This wonderful pottery with polychrome decorations dates from the Chinese Han dynasty (206 BC-220 AD), one of China’s golden ages. It is a Hu type vessel traditionally used as water or wine container.

The jar is in rather good shape. It bears a few scratches and a minute hole on the side (see picture 3). At the foot, the rim shows a couple of cracks and some fine hairlines running to the base (more pictures available on demand).

Here is an exquisite set dating from the Qing dynasty of China (1644-1912). It is composed of one knife with a handle made of a greenish transparent stone and two chopsticks and one fine pick made of ivory. Those four items fit in a beautiful, minutely decorated sheath made of ivory and tortoiseshell. And the sheath itself comes in an embroidery decorated silk pouch.

This set probably was used by a rich traveler...
