Higuchi Taikei was born in Tokyo in 1955. He established his kiln in the city of Hagi in 1985, after having studied pottery there, for 10 years.

This particular cup is sublimely coated in the famed silky white Hagi glaze.

A fine guinomi (sake cup) made by a legendary artist from the Hagi pottery tradition: Sakakura Shinbei (1917-1975), a fourteenth generation potter.

Sakakura Shinbei XIV became a Yamaguchi prefecture Intangible Cultural Asset Holder in 1972.

This particular cup is veiled in a classic Hagi glaze with soft pink and purple undertones.
