Guest Book

Very nice example of a square-shaped Oribe hajiki kogo (incense box for the tea ceremony with a handle on the lid), covered with Oribe typical green glaze on the top and iron glaze on the sides, forming triangle pattern. It was made by Matsumoto Tetsuzan whose seal is impressed on the bottom.
Matsumoto Tetsuzan is the second son of the famous Seto potter Yamaguchi Jotetsu. He succeeded as potter in his mother's family. He is established in the area of Mizuno, in Seto City.
The condition is excellent. The kogo will come enclosed in a wooden box (not the original one).
Dimensions: about 5 x 5 cm (2 x 2 in) and 4.5 cm (1.8 in) high (incl. lid)
