This interesting chawan (tea bowl) was made by a potter named Hara Kiyokazu, born in 1939, who specialized in Kyo-yaki, Kyoto ware, which is usually made for the Japanese tea ceremony.
This kind of bowl is called momo-gata chawan (tea bowl in the shape of a peach). The color, as well, is reminiscent of the sweet fruit. A perfect bowl for a summer tea ceremony.
