Set of Guinomi by Tamura Koichi & Suzuki Osamu
Sold. Thank you.

This rare set is composed of two guinomi (sake cups) by Tamura Koichi (1918-1987) and Suzuki Osamu, born in 1934. Both potters are master craftsmen who have become Preservers of Important Intangible Cultural Properties of Japan (Living National Treasures), for the tetsu-e (iron design) and shino ware respectively.

The two cups have been made available in a set and the former owner had a box made to keep them together. The box bears a seal, but it is not the potters’. The white cup with iron markings was made by Tamura Koichi and the black one, which actually is a Karatsu ware, was made by Suzuki Osamu. They form a wonderful harmony of designs and colors and indeed belong together.

Please inquire if you have some questions.

Both cups bear the potters’ seal and are in perfect condition. They will be shipped in the wooden box featured. Dimensions: white cup 6.5 x 5.5 cm (4.2 x 2.8 in), black cup 5.5 x 4 cm (2.2 x 1.6 in)
