This beautiful guinomi (sake cup) was made by a Japanese potter named Takita Shiu, born in 1956, a master craftsman specialized in porcelain.
After his graduation from the Kyoto Institute of Technology, in 1979, Takita Shiu began studying pottery with his father. He also studied in Spain and exposed in Madrid in 1983 and Barcelona, where he studied art, in 1988. Takita Shiu is a recognized potter whose works have been frequently selected to be exposed at the prestigious Kokugakai exhibition (Kokuten). The potter’s style is an ode to simplicity with elegance.

The guinomi is in perfect condition; there are a couple of minute dents which appeared during firing (kama-kizu) but they do not attenuate the beauty of the cup. The guinomi will be shipped in a signed wooden box.
