The sobriety of this chaire (tea caddy) is what makes its beauty. The dark robe over the well balanced yet unpretending body makes this classic tea ceremony vessel an ageless, attractive objet. Chaire are used as thick tea containers, whereas natsume are used for thin tea and are usually made of lacquered wood. This particular chaire was made by a potter named Matsumoto Tetsuzan, a third generation potter from the town of Seto, a Japanese pottery production center for more than 500 years. Please let us know if you have some questions.
The chaire will be shipped in its silk shifuku (pouch) and a wooden box signed Tetsuzan.
