A sober yet attractive chaire (tea caddy) made by a Kyoto potter named Watanabe Shinji, who specializes in Japanese tea ceremony ware. Chaire are tea containers used for thick tea, whereas natsume are used for thin tea and usually made of lacquered wood.
This classic looking vessel is rather large and though it puts on a solemn air, its stature makes it stand out, like the head priest in a Zen Buddhist school. As such, it will be the utensil one can always return to, to find her or himself again.
Please let us know if you have some questions.
The chaire is in excellent condition. It will be shipped in a wooden box signed Shinji
