Fine Porcelain and Enamel Cixi Box w/Mark Qing
Rare porcelain and enamel box with vine entangled wisteria overcome by trees of peonies with their attendant tendrils, all on a turquoise ground,the edging with enamel florals as a border, the character mark on the base "Chongqing Changchun" in iron red, some original gilt remaining. Qing. 4 5/8 in. x 3 1/2 in.

Condition: Perfect except for several small glaze flakes as shown in the photographs.

Provenance: Acquired from a Florida estate in 1999.

Porcelain boxes of any kind decorated with the Empress Dowager "Cixi" design and often referred to as Dayazhai wares are extremely rare. We have been unable to find any one of them published.
