The Daoist immortal shown seated at ease with head turned and his hand resting on a knotted double gourd at his side, his fingers holding a bat, his cane on the ground under him, his loosely draped robes ties at his waist and falling open in front to expose his bony chest, his expressive face carved with a broad smile above a beard of tight curls. 18/19th C. 9 in. wide x 5 1/2 in. high.

Condition: Some minor losses consistent with age and a crack running down from the tie on his robe, all as shown in the photographs. Otherwise in perfect condition.

Provenance: Acquired from a Palm Beach, Florida estate in 2002.
