Japanese Uchikake "Flying Cranes" Bridal or Ceremonial Robe Vintage Japanese Uchikake Bridal or Wedding Kimono depicting "Flying Cranes" a symbol of long life and harmony. The traditional Japanese marriage kimono are some of the most ornate garments in the realm of traditional Japanese ceremonial clothing. Wedding Kimono or Uchikake were originally worn by women of nobility for formal occasions, but is now an essential component of any traditional Japanese bridal costume although many Japanese women today have chosen a more Western tradition. This Wedding Kimono is heavily embroidered union of cranes and flowing water below (soft beige flowing lines). These Uchikake robe are like a Yuzen painting and are in a sense big paintings and make a grant wall hanging. The Red Orange (symbolic of prosperity and good luck) Benihana Silk lining is magnificent. The back of the Kimono depicts heavy gold and silver wrapped satin stitched embroidery. The bottom of the robe features a padded rolled hem. Background color is white with off white and beige panel designs. Measurement: Length 68", Length Sleeve: 42" - Across Shoulders: 50" Additional Information: Traditionally a Japanese Furisode under garment is designed in a damasked glossy silk design in composition with the ceremonial robe . . . a wearable flowing art piece of traditional Japanese grandeur. An obi is worn with this garment and the robe is left free to drape behind the bride as with our own customs. The garment is fine condition, clean but will be pressed and folded in Japanese style for shipment to new owners.
