Personal travel Hypodermatic Syringe Kits were used for various medical reasons in the late 1880's and early 1900's. These small travel kits were were often carried and used to self-administer localized anesthetic treatment for pain which was applied through the mucous membrane. Dental , asthmatic conditions, etc. Cocaine and morphine were common drugs of the day. Hypodermatic dissolving crystal tablets were used according to a pharmaceutical charts. One of the empty vial is labeled: Hypodermatic Tablets No. 6, Cocaine by Hydrochlorate 1-4 Gr (grains) Parke Davis & Co.
Release Notice: This 1900's medical kit is not being sold for practical application. All vials are empty and contain no medications. This set is being offered for sale to those individuals interested in collecting antique medical instruments. |
