Personal travel Hypodermatic Syringe Kits were used for various medical reasons in the late 1880's and early 1900's. These small travel kits were were often carried and used to self-administer localized anesthetic treatment for pain which was applied through the mucous membrane. Dental , asthmatic conditions, etc. Cocaine and morphine were common drugs of the day. Hypodermatic dissolving crystal tablets were used according to a pharmaceutical charts. One of the empty vial is labeled: Hypodermatic Tablets No. 6, Cocaine by Hydrochlorate 1-4 Gr (grains) Parke Davis & Co.
