Standing Senju (1,000-Handed) Kannon Bosatsu, the upper of the two pairs of hands placed in front of the figure forming the gassho adoration mudra and the lower holding an alms bowl (houhatsu), and the three pairs of hands arrayed on either side of the figure holding various attributes, sculpted in relief using an uncommon hammered technique from a high-quality salmon-hued granite. Mid-Edo Period ca. 1750, possibly earlier. Very minor old loss. Light lichen accumulation, particularly on the upper portion of the sculpture.

Height: 62 cm
Width: 36 cm
Depth: 21 cm.

A fairly massive, playfully stylized Senju Kannon Bosatsu in excellent condition and with good age. Uncommon.
