Pair of koma-inu (lit. Korean dog, but typically referred to in English as lion dog), one with mouth open ("Ah") and the other with mouth closed ("Un"), each sculpted from a single block of wood. Muromachi Period ca. 1500, possibly earlier. Old loss, most notably the tail, front sections of the rear feet, and ear tips of both beasts; insect damage; overall softening of the lines and contours; and traces of gesso-like foundation and polychrome.
