Stone depiction of a standing Senju (Thousand-Armed) Kannon Bosatsu. Mid-Edo Period ca. 1750. Old loss to the upper perimeter; otherwise, fine. Good lichen accumulation overall, with a fair stand of moss. Height: 35.7 cm Sculpted with impressive finesse from a durable, fine-grained igneous stone, an enchanting little Senju Kannon, stone depictions of which are exceedingly uncommon. |
