An elegant late Victorian period 10k rose gold tie or bar pin c1880-90. This antique solid gold 1-3/4" bar or tie pin features an oval cabochon natural gray lace agate with a lovely glowy quality, and subtle orange tinged banding. The agate alone measures 1" x 1/2", and this pin closes with the original c-clasp. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, losses, corrosion or repairs but there is a split vicible in the gold bezel (setting) surrounding the agate (see picture 5). The gold bezel holding the agate is entirely soldered to the pin base, so will not split further, and only needs re-soldering for aesthetics, if preferred. The mark besides the 10K is an anchor, a maple leaf with an E and a lion, which are the marks used by P.W. Ellis & Co., Toronto (1852-1928).
