An unusual and rare 14k yellow gold ring of a seed pearls and diamond sunburst or starburst ring c1900-10. The sunburst has 10 petals with genuine seed pearls and it has a central claw-set 8 point (measured by flat stone gauge) genuine antique European cut diamond; the shank is stamped 14K with a JIC maker's mark. I have never seen a pearl sunburst ring before in 32 years in antiques, but they most likely were made to go with the pearl lavalieres popular at the time. It is possible that this piece was produced slightly later date, but the ring shank is an appropriate one for the period, and the setting is properly mounted and appears original. This ring weighs 6.3 grams, and it is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses or damage other than some glue residue on a couple of reset pearls (an old repair, and is restorable). An elegant vintage handmade 14k+ gold 15-3/4" necklace and matching 1-1/4" x 5/8" clip-on earrings with imitation or simulated Alexandrite facetted, claw-set stones. These simulated alexandrites are actually corundum laced with vanadium to produce the color change. This alexandrite-like sapphire material has been around for almost 100 years, and the stones test as corundums on a gem tester (Natural genuine alexandrites are expensive and uncommon, most of what you will see for sale is the simulated version). This set was purchased in the 1950s, and may have been made slightly earlier. The necklace has a hook end and the stones measure 1/2" in diameter (12 mm); those in the earrings are 7/16" (11 mm). Each piece has very tiny hallmarks which appear to be Egyptian. It tests as higher than 14k gold, but less than 18k - it is most likely that the original goldsmith melted various carats of gold together, as Egyptian gold is usually specifically either 9K, 18K or 22K. The necklace weighs 16.2 grams and the earrings weigh 6.7 grams; this beautiful set with the lotus designs is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs.
