A pair of stunning hand painted and gilt metal mounted 19th century Sevres style plant pots or jardinieres. This pair consists of two French porcelain 9-1/2" diameter and 7-3/4" tall planters with white glazed interiors and painted scenes on the exterior. The scenes include floral panels and 18th century couples on a deep turquoise blue ground with hand gilding. Each pot is mounted on a footed gilt brass stand, which has two side straps with lion heads with mouth tassels. Each strap is mounted to a top beaded collar anchoring the pot to the fittings. They have a blue painted Sevres style mark and the uprights are stamped AH on the interior. Condition is reasonable considering their age, with the following issues: there is minor gilding loss, one metal arm/upright has been broken in three pieces and it has been crudely soldered and re-broken, some of the screws are replacements and one segment of one support column has been refastened on a different part of the upper collar on one pot. One pot and fittings is intact, the other needs some professional brazing and refitting of the fractured column. The pots themselves are in excellent condition with no crazing, chips, cracks or repairs other than some minor wear to the gilding and some dulling of the interior bottom glaze from use in the past. We've seen the supports offered online on occasion (rescued from broken examples) so it may be possible to replace the damaged one. This handsome matching pair is in as-described condition as stated above. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Expedited tracked insured parcel shipping to the U.S. starts at $78 (other spots may vary, air is higher). Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. PLEASE NOTE: we DO NOT accept PayPal, only VISA and MASTERCARD.

A fine quality silver plated horse racing trophy from 1939. This is the Bert E. Collyer Memorial trophy, and it was presented to the famous jockey Robert "Bobby" Watson (1913-1997). He rode over 1300 winners and dominated horse racing in Ontario in the 1940s, and was a Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame inductee in 1998. He won a total of nine of the Classic races that would later form the official Canadian Triple Crown series including all three in 1945 (riding Uttermost). As well, he is the only three-time winner of the prestigious Canadian Championship, doing it in consecutive years. This particular 10" across and 5-1/8" high silver plated pedestal punch bowl was presented to Bobby Watson by the Hamilton (Ontario) Jockey Club Aug. 7th, 1939 for his ride on Filisteo. The award itself is stamped IS (for International Silver) OLD ENGLISH REPRODUCTION SILVER PLATE ON COPPER WMMTS G11 with a scratched 4460 identification number. It has fine engraving and a shell and gadroon border, and this award trophy would be a nice addition to any fan of Watson or of championship horse racing in Ontario. This item is in very good condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor copper blush on two areas of the exterior and a patch of wear showing copper on the interior. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use.
