A professionally photographed and framed portrait of the mid-1960s garage/psych band The Kidds, who recorded one 45 rpm single record ("Children in Love") for Nestor Records. This photo was purchased at a local auction in St. Catharines, Ontario (near Niagara Falls), the hometown of the band and many others of the era. The 14-1/2 x 11-1/2" photo is matted in a 20-3/4 x 16-3/4" black painted wood frame and it is initialed on the lower right by the photographer. It is high quality and genuine, and most likely unpublished. There is a documentary on Niagara area bands which features the Kidds, and using that and the invaluable help of the kind people at the Garage Hangover internet site we have a positive identification of the band. Interestingly this photo is NOT shown in the documentary although lots of other items are featured (search for Miil for The Big Story of Small Potatoes documentary). A true rarity and an unusual survivor. This item is an 1887 shipping agent's calendar or schedule which was posted in the shipping agent offices to advertise the dates of departure of the American Line United States Mail Steamers. The American Line was formed as the American Steamship Company in 1872, with the Pennsylvania Railroad Co being one of the original principals, and in 1884 the American Line was bought by the International Navigation Company of Philadelphia, owners of the Red Star Line. It still sailed under the American Line name and flag for years after. It also has berths for first and second class passengers. Departing each Wednesday from Liverpool to Philadelphia, this rare advertising piece also mentions the Pennsylvania Railroad. Printed by Griffith & Son, Birkenhead, this 14-1/2" x 10-3/4" schedule retains its bright colours and excellent graphics. We could not see a name on the ship, but it does resemble a postcard image identified as the British Princess, built in 1882. Most likely this calendar was displayed unframed originally. It has a fold line along the top, and it has been mounted with a teal coloured mat in a 19th period frame. This genuine period transportation survivor is in extremely good condition with no major staining, tears, foxing, damage or repairs other than the loss of about 1/4" trimmed from the right hand side, some darkening of the paper with age, and some loss to the upper right plaster on the frame. A fabulous addition for collectors of shipping, train and postal ephemera. This 18-3/4 x 12-3/4" picture is in a shadowbox style frame with a Marnier bottle on an orange on the left side and a drinking couple with orange on the other on a printed background. Certainly the finest and most decorative vintage chocolate box we've come across! This is a c1930s-40s (we think) paper wrapped box with an applied print of two kittens on the top. The textured paper wrap is wallpaper thick with lush gold highlights, and this box has a gold Urney applique. The original tied red ribbon is also present on this 13-3/4 x 9-3/4" box, which has the original sticker on the bottom (CHOCOLATES - 1-1/2 LB NET MANUFACTURED IN THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND). This advertising container is in excellent condition with no tears, fading, losses, damage or repairs other than a small dent and some minor abrasions to the cat image and some bruising to the bottom corners.
