A scarce Victorian era sterling silver matching pair of engraved link bracelets, both with matching British patent registry diamond shape marks and dated 1881. These antique silver bracelets measure 6-3/4" long and 1" wide; both have safety chains ans snap catches. These antique English silver bracelets have thick hollow tubes linking two outer bands of oval links with fine engraving, and a central smooth row of links. They are quite hard find in the original matched pairs now. Silver jewellery was the jewellery of choice for 19thC women who had some means or who worked. It was affordable, but was not considered as showy as gold, more appropriate for the serious minded. These bracelets were often worn with the wonderful Victorian lockets with the same type of ornate chain. The bracelets are actually scarcer now than the lockets. This pair is in very good original condition with no scrapes, monograms, bends, corrosion or losses. Each bracelet has some very minor and small shallow denting on some links and some minor denting to a few of the tubes on the outer edges; one has a professionally repaired clasp and both have had a few hollow tubes soldered to the next links for stability (not affecting the wearing of the bracelets), but they show well and look great on. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Expedited tracked and insured parcel shipping to the U.S. starts at $30 (other spots may vary, air is higher). Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. A sterling silver garnets gem stone pendant necklace circa 1960s. This vintage modernist gilt or vermeil vintage drop pendant is set with 84 genuine faceted deep red Bohemian garnets on a 16-5/8" fine link gilt sterling silver chain. The pendant section alone measures 1-3/4" x 1 9/16", so this waterfall of garnets has great impact. The chain is also gilt sterling and has a spring-ring clasp. The chain is stamped 925 and the claw-set garnets look great against the gilding, and this necklace weighs 9.7 grams. So well made, and a unique design. Thoughtful gift for the January birthday people in your life. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs, but please note there is a fairly small amount of wear to the gilding at the edge of the loop. An antique 12k gold genuine rhodolite garnets and mine cut diamonds ring circa 1890 1900. This antique size 7-1/2 or 7.5 ring has four genuine true red colour garnets surrounded by twenty genuine mine cut diamonds in a classic marquise shape. This Victorian period piece is unmarked, but has been tested and is confirmed to be 12 K gold. It measures just over 7/8" long and is 5/16" across the elegant marquise shaped setting and it weighs 3.0 grams. Rhodolite garnets most resembled rubies in colour, so were a desirable gem stone even in the 19thC. It is in excellent antique condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. This ring was a popular style at that time, sometimes all in diamonds, but mostly with a less expensive gemstone in the centre for contrast. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use as would be expected. Silver and silver plated items are hand-polished, not buffed, and our halogens and magnified images may exaggerate otherwise barely noticeable scratches and flaws. A 19thC Farrar Batiscan Quebec 4 gallon handled wine jug or crock, for the Marchand & Co spice, wine and liquor merchant. This 18-3/4" tall handled salt glazed stoneware jug still has the cork and it is completely hand thrown. It has a blue floral design identical with other known Farrar examples and it has a blue-wiped impressed legend stating "MARCHAND & CO MARCHANDS EPCIERES VINS ET LIQUEURS BATISCAN 4". Moses and Ebenezer Farrar were from Vermont, and they established one of the earliest stoneware potteries in Canada around 1840. Their first pottery was in St Johns Quebec, and later in Iberville Quebec. Their merchant crocks were usually not signed (by preference of the merchant, who was advertising their own goods). They closed somewhere around 1927, after the death of Ebenezer's son Georg H Farrar ((source: Early Canadian Pottery, Donald Webster, 1971). It is in very good condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some edge chips near the mouth and some original kiln burning to the blue design. A gentleman's 18k yellow gold signet carnelian intaglio seal ring circa 1900. The carnelian gem is carved intaglio with a Latin motto " Sequere Me Est Voluntas Dai " (this possibly was a mis-spelling of Dei rather than Dai, Dei meaning God). In the centre of the motto, which is in the typical garter belt surrounding the outer edge of the stone, there is a bird perched upon a cross holding a branch in its beak, possibly an olive branch. My Latin is practically non-existent, but it appears to translate to Follow Me It Is The Will Of God (Latin scholars feel free to let me know if this a is a less than ideal translation...). This antique size 7-1/2 or 7.5 ring measures 1/2" x 3/8" across the stone, and it weighs 6.0 grams. It is stamped with somewhat worn hallmarks, including the English crown mark and 18 (year and year date not visible) for 18k. The maker's mark may be a variant of Stewart Dawson and Co, of London and Liverpool (later Stewart Dawson LD, est. 1881). These rings were originally used in wax seals to close documents before the use of stickable envelopes. It has the patination as expected but is otherwise in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. Great gift for that man with the Edwardian gentleman style. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; the items we sell are invariably vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Silver and silver plated items are hand polished, not buffed. Expedited insured tracked post to the U.S. starts at $27, and shipping within Canada starts at $18.
