A classic vintage strand of graduated cultured pearls with a sterling clasp c1950. Consisting of 103 pearls ranging in size from 3mm to 7mm, this 17-1/4" necklace is not knotted; having it knotted should extend the length by 1" to 1-1/2". The pearls have a nice cream-white colour and lustre, and the pearls are round, although some are not the perfect round shape of modern cultured pearls, and some pearls have naturally occuring blemishes. Two pearls have a fine partial crack line. It is strung on double cord, but this may be the original stringing, so it probably is a good idea for it to be re-strung before wearing. It is in excellent original condition otherwise, and is guaranteed to be actual cultured pearls, not glass or plastic costume pearls. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Trackable surface shipping to the continental U.S. starts at $13 (other spots may vary) - insured is higher, and mandatory on items over $95 if paid with a credit card. Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT ACCEPT PAYPAL.

A superb quality 4-3/8" across Sorrento ware wood inlay trinket or jewellery box from the mid to late 19th century. This box stands 1-3/4" high and it has wonderful colour and workmanship. The sides feature red banding and a Greek key design in green, yellow and black with a brown ground. The top is the highlight, with literally thousands of individually placed fruitwood tesserae in a needlepoint-style flower and leaf panel decoration - the effect isquite similar to a carpet; the colours are bright and unfaded and the fine workmanship is remarkable. The interior of the box is olive wood. The condition of this unsigned, brass-hinged box is very good indeed for a box of its age and type, with only some very small barely noticeable losses and craquelure to the finish. There is a small loss along the edge of one corner panel, some minor lid warping to the hinge and front edge leaving small gaps, a thin crack and small corner losses to one lower red band on one side panel and the possible replacement of one half of one hinge with a non-brass one. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use.
