A Georgian period size 7 ring in 9k (tested) rose gold c1770-1800. The "gemstones" are rose coloured hand cut paste stones with a foil backing, which was done to enhance the brilliance of the paste (the stones are also closed in the back). Paste was enormously popular from the end of the 17th century to the middle of the 19th century, due to the vast demand for diamonds and later coloured gemstones, which could not be met by the mining output of that period. The paste here is finely cut and quite brilliant, indicating an early and high quality manufacture. It measures 5/8" x 3/8" across the bezel-set stones and it weighs 3.4 grams. This item is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than the replacement of one of the foiled stones with a genuine rose tourmaline, and the band has been built up /re-hooped. There are some depressions in the backs of some of the smaller stone settings, and a pinpoint sized chip near the bottom of the largest stone, but that is reasonable for a ring of this age. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Expedited tracked and insured parcel shipping to the U.S. starts at $28 (other spots may vary, air is higher). Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. PLEASE NOTE: we DO NOT accept PayPal, only VISA and MASTERCARD.
