A superb and top quality example of Austro-Hungarian glassmaking at its finest. This is a set of six shell shaped cranberry glass nut dishes c1900 with crisp molding and lush encrusted gold decoration. Attributed to Moser, this set is certainly of the expected quality but we can't definitively confirm this. The set consists of the deep 9-1/2" long and 7-1/8" wide master nut bowl as well as five matching 4-1/2" long and 3-3/8" wide individual nut bowls. The allover hand applied gold decoration is superb and it appears on the outer surfaces as well as on the interior. We have seen only a couple of examples of the smaller dishes only, never the full size master nut dish, and seldom in cranberry and rarely with such ornate decoration. A true prize for any serious collection of Moser or European art glass. This unsigned set appears unused, even after 110 years, and it is in stellar original condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than a 1/16" across flake to the edge of one of the individual dish's edges and the expected minor irregularities expected on hand-painted and hand-finished art glass. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Expedited tracked and insured parcel shipping to the U.S. starts at $40 (other spots may vary, air is higher). Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. A vintage single row 10 button plus 5 bass button German maade Hohner accordion or melodeon. This example features ornate gold stencilling on the black patinated wood, orange bellows and a pierced chrome plated grille. This unit is clean and fully functional (and LOUD) and the straps and bellows are in superb condition. Everything works just fine and this unit is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, losses, damage or repairs other than some dulling of the decal at the bass buttons (and a slight darkening at the side retaining straps), rips to the dust cover material under the air intake holes on the bottom, a bit of surface corrosion to the grate's frame (can be polished out) and the loss of one eyehook which holds the grate in place. All flaws are very minor and this is a useable example in excellent condition. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. An English hand painted Gaudy Welsh tea set by Allerton's, consisting of the 6" high teapot (including finial), the 5" tall large covered sugar bowl, the 4-3/4" tall milk or cream jug, four 2-1/2" tall cups and four 5-7/8" fitted saucers. Including the lids there are 13 pieces and each is handpainted with cobalt, orange, green and copper lustre. the shape and decoration are undoubtedly those of Allertons however the saucers are marked with what appear to be impressed date stamps (from 1928-29). The sugar and teapot have a 30 mark - it was illegal to sell unmarked china after 1891 so this set would appear to predate that year due to the lack of markings. Or not. This set is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs except crazing to the creamer, sugar, one saucer and one cup. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. A vintage and beautiful 1950s deep purple with blue synthetic Alexandrite stone in a fine 10k yellow gold pendant setting complete with a chain necklace. This 1 x 3/4" (sans bale) pendant has a stippled finish and the 16-1/2" box chain has a springring clasp. Each piece is stamped 10K, this necklace weighs 6.3 grams, and the stone's intense purple with blue colour turns blue in outdoor lighting. These simulated alexandrites are usually corundum laced with vanadium to produce the color change under different types of lighting, or a treated colourless chrysoberyl. This created gemstone has been around for almost 100 years, and the stones usually test as corundums on a gem tester (natural genuine alexandrites are expensive and uncommon, most of what you will see for sale is the simulated version). This necklace is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Before Rolling Stone turned into an irrelevant pile of commercial crap over 40 years ago, it was at the vanguard of the "Underground Press" - a crude newspaper devoted to the counterculture, drugs, music, uncensored political and sexual expression and all things Hippie. Fortunately, being Canadian, the Georgia Straight of Vancouver carried on the anarchistic torch for a few years after RS gave it up, giving us a ribald and unfettered underground newspaper sold in the British Columbia area. From r-rated underground comics (the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers (FFFB) by Gilbert Shelton, Fat Freddie's Cat, and others) to interviews with counterculture icons, this paper is a window on a long-gone world of late 1960s ideals (it started around the same time as RS in 1967). This is a selection of 14 issues from 1973-74 and although not a contiguous run it gives a great look at the era. Included are the following issues:
VOL.7 (1973) - June 14-21 (no issue number, Allen Ginsberg); #306 Aug. 16-23 (Flo & Eddie concert ad, Craig Herb and the Wife comic, FFFB comic); #307 Aug. 23-30 (FFFB, Neil Young, Elton concert ad); #310 Sep. 13-20 (Bruce Lee, Ecohawks Brent Boates comic); #314 Oct. 12-19 (FFFB, tinted paper stock); #315 Oct. 18-25 (Cluck Wilverton comic, stain/tear/yellowing); #319 Nov. 15-22 (Wavy Gravy, FFFB, Leon Russell concert ad); #321 Nov. 29-Dec. 6 (FFFB, Willie Dixon/J.L. Hooker concert ad); #324 Dec. 20-Jan. 3, 1974 (Craig Xmas colour comic, Quicksilver concert ad)
VOL. 8 1974 -#325 (FFFB, Pigpen eulogies); #328 Jan. 24-31 (Harold Hedd comic); #329 Jan. 31-Feb. 7 (FFFB, Nancy Kotex Yossarian comic, Craig Vancouver colour comic spread, ELP concert ad); #331 Feb. 14-21 (Craig comic, G. Shelton Fat Freddy's Cat comic); No number May 2-9 (Allen Ginsberg Craig colour cover, ROBERT CRUMB COMIC, Leslie comics, Ginsberg). For the most part all are in excellent condition with only a bit of raggedness to the lower edges, a bit of yellowing of the old newsprint stock, and a small tear or two on an issue or two. There are no losses, writing, labels, cut out sections, creases or folds and they are very well preserved considering their 40 years of existence. A great chance to own a piece of history. Since there isn't a complete run, we're selling these as a collection only. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Expedited tracked and insured parcel shipping to the U.S. starts at $21 (other spots may vary, air is higher). Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only.
