A professionally photographed and framed portrait of the mid-1960s garage/psych band The Kidds, who recorded one 45 rpm single record ("Children in Love") for Nestor Records. This photo was purchased at a local auction in St. Catharines, Ontario (near Niagara Falls), the hometown of the band and many others of the era. The 14-1/2 x 11-1/2" photo is matted in a 20-3/4 x 16-3/4" black painted wood frame and it is initialed on the lower right by the photographer. It is high quality and genuine, and most likely unpublished. There is a documentary on Niagara area bands which features the Kidds, and using that and the invaluable help of the kind people at the Garage Hangover internet site we have a positive identification of the band. Interestingly this photo is NOT shown in the documentary although lots of other items are featured (search for Miil for The Big Story of Small Potatoes documentary). A search will bring you to the full documentary. A must for the garage band archivist, or the band member who doesn't have a copy. This item is in excellent condition with no damage or imperfections at all. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Expedited tracked and insured parcel shipping to the U.S. starts at $27 (other spots may vary, air is higher). Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. An early English 48 key hand accordion or concertina by Lachenal c1850s-60s. This 6-1/2" across hexangonal musical instrument utilizes the treble English system and it features ebonized wood, silver inlay, complex carved fretwork and gold embossing on the leather fittings. The bellows have green, white and gold appliques on the green leather as well. It retains the two leather playing straps, one with a later wire hook and it has remnants of a maker's or retailer's tag. It draws and plays loudly and well, with no apparent holes in the bellows and it has the following condition issues: minor cracking to the fretwork and ebonized finish, wear to most of the label, minor tarnish to the inlay, a few white paint droplets, the loss of the strap mounting buttons (the hardware mounts remain), and some recapping/patching of three of the leather bellows edges and a little stiffness with a few buttons. A really nice and old musical instrument in what we think is a fine state of original preservation. We are not experts in regard to this instrument, so this is an unqualified opinion, not a warranty. For reference please check out the Concertina Museum's item C-300. We have no expertise on this particular instrument, so please ask questions, which we will answer if we can.
