A superbly detailed pair of repousse high grade silver 4-7/8" x 4" sweetmeat or nut dishes, most likely Burmese in origin. These lovely serving pieces feature gilt interiors and wildlife scenes around the exterior depicting panthers, elephants, birds, dogs, rabbits and others, all with a backdrop of palm trees and tropical foliage. They are unmarked except for a large hand-tooled peacock figure on the bottom of each bowl, and they test as very high grade silver. These bowls weigh 174 grams in total, and they are in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a tiny notch on the upper edge of one bowl from the testing of the silver content. All

They are stamped with the pattern number 432 along with various painted and underglaze decorator marks, including the pottery mark for Julius Dressler of Austria (Bohemia), in business from 1888-1920. This quality, hand-finished serving item has white enamel jewelling and green painting in the aesthetic style (popular in the 1870s and 1880s). The pendant is hand-engraved on one side and it is stamped STERLING with the Birks B in a hexagon maker's mark - it is a pendant, but not a locket, it does not open. An evocative semi-erotic colour lithograph print entitled "Nokemono", (translated from Japanese - outcast) produced in 1969 by Fumio Tamura (Japan, 1941-). Fumio Tamura was born in the Nagano prefecture, and he graduated from Tokyo Art College in 1968, so this 1969 litho dates from early in his career. It is in a metal frame, and it measures 24-1/2" x 21", with an image size of 18" x 14-1/2". It is a very small edition issue, inscribed in pencil 2/7, with the title in Japanese and in English NOKEMONO and it has the artist's signature F. Tamura '69. It retains the original Toronto gallery sticker on the back, and this print is is in excellent condition with no foxing, tears, staining, fading, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. A wonderful mid-Victorian silverplated ink stand with a Feb. 20, 1860 registration date. This 11-1/2 x 7-1/2" stand features a pottery inkwell in a domed lidded brass holder mounted on the deck, which also has a brass pen rest. Besides the ornate hand-engraving, it also has a copper military button mounted with a screw and bolt. The shoulders have a high relief vine and berries design and it has scroll feet. It has a sliding drawer with pen and paper compartments as well, and it has the British registration key and the PP&S maker's mark for Padley, Parking & Standforth of Sheffield, England (operating from 1855-80). This item is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a dent in the edge of the platform behind the ink dome. All
