A splendid, high quality example of Victorian period silver plated tableware. This is a finely crafted English silver plated roll-top bacon or serving dish (or chafing dish) made by John Turton, Sheffield c1880s. This 12-1/2" x 9" server stands 9" high on ornate legs; it has a finger lift with a nesting slot on the edge of the base, a reeded dome lid with an unengraved planchette, and both original inserts (both pirced and solid). The hinges dismantle for cleaning, with the threaded shaft coming apart (see picture) to allow proper cleaning. The lid swings up and tucks under smoothly and all pieces fit tightly; it has the maker's mark for Turton on the bottom. This piece would certainly be the highlight of your table, and it is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than just a trace of plating wear on the edge of the planchette (barely noticeable). All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Surface tracked shipping to the U.S. starts at $48 (other spots may vary) - tracking/insurance will be included in all shipping quotes. Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. PLEASE NOTE: we DO NOT accept PayPal, only VISA and MASTERCARD.
