A simply splendid, high quality English Georgian large footed master open salt dish, fully hallmarked for London 1817. This 3-5/8" diameter and 1-7/8" high bowl has fine high relief and rather unusual rim decoration of a lion head alternating with a shell, surrounded by flowers, with ornate floral feet. It retains the original gilding on the bowl as well. It is stamped with the maker's mark for William Eaton of London and it weighs an impressive 162.6 grams. It has a small lion rampant family crest engraving on one shoulder (not shown). One of the most unusual Georgian silver open salts we have seen. It is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs; All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use.
