A great example of Victorian period sentimental or mourning hair jewellery c1870-80. This is a 15k yellow gold hair brooch, with a centrally set genuine 12 pt. rose cut diamond and a compartment on the back containing a curl of blonde hair with a silk cord. The brooch is unmarked but tested and is guaranteed to be gold, and the diamond has been checked with a gemologist. The hair compartment on this 1-7/8" x 1-1/8" pin has the original bevelled glass, and this pin weighs 9.2 grams. The original c-clasp is still present, and it has a small loop for a safety chain (not present). This item is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a slight flattening/indenting where the top diamond portion is mounted on the next layer (right side). All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use.
