An elegant and high quality pair of 800 silver German 8" viande or meat serving forks in their original fitted box c1900-10. These forks are stamped 800 with the crown and eagle mark (Frankfurt, pre-1888), most likely produced by Bruckmann and Sohne (1805-1973). The forks are an interesting combiation of elegant Neoclassic revival design paired with the elements of Jugendstil - note the graceful and simple fork shape and crisp design to the ends of the handle. The 9" x 3-1/2" box is a tan coloured watered silk with a Greek key border and bronze coloured fittings with a patterned silk interior lid and cotton fitted platform with twisted cord trim. The forks weigh a substantial 83 grams, and they have traces of the original gilding. Lovely quality silver. This set is in mostly excellent vintage condition with no pattern wear, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some visible dents and bends to one tine of one fork. The box/case has some slight rubbing to the box's edges and some interior spotting and staining. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use.
