| A classy, Aesthetic period silverplated handled eggstand with 6 eggcups and a set of spoons c1870s. The stand measures 10-1/4" high and it has six legs and a handle with naturalistic leaves; the eggcups are simply decorated with an openwork vine with an engraved double wavy line. It bears the mark of Jehoiada Alsop Rhodes & Barber (Sheffield, England 1877-79, A over JR in clover mark) and it has a British registry mark dating the stand to March 13, 1879 (year letter somewhat obscured). The six 5" spoons are by Rhodes before he joined up with Barber (1871-76, J over AR in a clover leaf) and date a few years earlier than the stand (year date obscured). This set is in excellent original condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs - the stand is in superb condition however the spoons have some heel wear. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use.
