An unusual late 19thC / Victorian period double blue and white china perfume bottle in one of the variations of the Hawthorn (or Hawthorne ) pattern. Almost certainly English, and quite possibly produced by Doulton (later Royal Doulton), although a few English firms produced a version of Hawthorn. This unmarked 2-1/8" wide and 2-7/8" tall bottle features a hawthorn flower and bramble pattern with a deep cobalt blue background. The stark floral pattern almost has Arts and Crafts aspects of design. The conical stoppers fit into cork lined necks, and the bottles were fired together originally, not attached by glue or epoxy. This very unusual and scarce vanity item is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some fine overall crazing and wear to the gilding around the stopper edges/rims. An excellent and unusual addition to any perfume bottle collection. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Expedited insured tracked shipping to the U.S. starts at $22 (other spots may vary, air is higher) - tracking and insurance are included in shipping quotes. Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. PLEASE NOTE: We DO NOT accept PayPal, only VISA and MASTERCARD.

A scarce 4-1/4" vintage late 1930s-mid 1940s stoppered glass perfume bottle with the original label. This company was in business in Monte Carlo for a very short time, from the late 1930s to the mid-1940s. The label has losses but the Mary Grayo name is mostly quite legible; the bottle is molded with a 45 on the bottom. It has remnants of the original perfume, which must have smelled wonderful in its day. Mary Grayo perfumes seem in most cases to be designed to be worn when wearing a fur coat, to prevent the natural scent of fur coats from being obvious - many of the perfumes they produced refer to specific types of fur (silver fox, beaver, etc.). This is the first Mary Grayo perfume bottle we have owned, previously only have seen the company advertising. This bottle is in fair condition with no chips, cracks, damage or repairs other than the losses, split and fading to the label and the loss of the dabbing rod on the stopper. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Expedited tracked insured shipping to the U.S. starts at $20 (other spots may vary, air is higher) - tracking and insurance are included in shipping quotes. Items paid with a credit card will be shipped to confirmed addresses only. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. PLEASE NOTE: we DO NOT accept PayPal, only VISA and MASTERCARD.

An attractive and large 3-5/8" across sterling silver pancake makeup compact with mirror fully hallmarked for Birmingham, England 1932-3. This compact has an engine turned design on both sides with a monogram area on one side (never monogrammed); it has an S.B.& S.Ld. maker's mark for S. Blanckensee & Son Ltd. It has a retaining ring for the powder (in the picture sitting in the bottom of the compact, as we were inspecting the mirror) and it weighs 110 grams. Curved shape so surprisingly deep in the centre. Condition - minor issues of slight dents on the finger lift and minor scratches/patination with one small extremely shallow dent which is hard even to see on one side. Otherwise it is in excellent shape, the mirror appears original with very minimal edge fade/deterioration and the compact has not been monogrammed. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use. Expedited tracked shipping to the U.S. starts at $21 (other spots may vary) - insurance/tracking are included in shipping quotes.
