A 9k gold synthetic or simulated Alexandrite ring circa 1940s. This size 7 retro ring is 9 K yellow gold and it has a round facetted claw-set synthetic Alexandrite stone.
This ring weighs 5.6 grams, it measures 3/4" at the widest and 1/2" across the stone. The stone measures 12mm across and is approximately 7mm deep (measured in setting), so is approximately 7.25 carats in size.
These simulated alexandrites are usually corundum laced with vanadium to produce the color change under different types of lighting, or a treated colourless chrysoberyl. This created gemstone has been around for almost 100 years, and the stones usually test as corundums on a gem tester (natural genuine alexandrites are expensive and uncommon, most of what you will see for sale is the simulated version).
It is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and will usually have signs of gentle use.
