A 14k yellow gold shooting star pearl and diamond stickpin or tie or cravat pin circa 1890. This 2-1/4" long pin has a 5/8" x 1/4" top with a claw-set natural 3 mm. pearl and a claw-set genuine round antique cut diamond. This pin shows both the fascination at the time with the solar system, many stickpins had moon, stars and planets at the time, and the shooting star had romantic connotations as well, which made it a suitable sweetheart or engagement gift. It weighs 1.2 grams and is stamped 14K with an obscured maker's mark on the pin shaft. It is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, scrapes, dents, monograms, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are secondhand and may have slight signs of gentle use. Tracked insured air post to the U.S. starts at $18 (other spots may vary) - insurance and tracking are included in shipping quotes.
