| An unusual sterling silver and agate (Scottish style) brooch c1910, in the shape of a broad ax. This brooch is hallmarked Chester 1910-11 and A & LL (makers mark). The great demand for the pebble jewellery led to its production in Chester and Birmingham. The top spike and blade of the ax are set with speckly grey and a white agate. It measures 2 3/8" in length, and is 11/16" at the widest. It is in excellent condition, and it closes with a c-clasp. The only detail to note is that the agates are not set flush to the silver as the earlier Scottish pieces were - they all sit up, and one agate is set a bit crooked (sits higher than the other two). This does not noticeable when it is being worn. Shipping is $6 (to the US - other spots may vary) and insured is higher. We do ship internationally. All of our prices are in $US. | ||
