| Here is an outstanding pair of earrings from Ricardo Salas, circa post-1980. Matilde Poulat studied painting at the San Carlos Academy of Art, and was a painter and designer when she opened her shop in 1934. Her trademark "Matl" appeared on her work. Known for her folk art designs and unique, unmistakable style, Poulat worked with her nephew, Ricardo Salas. After Poulat's death in 1960, Salas opened his own shop, continuing to produce his aunt's designs as well as creating his own. He is deceased now, as well. Measuring 1 7/8" long and 1" wide, these dangle earrings are each set with a center pyramidal amethyst, along with turquoise and coral stones. Post backs, for pierced ears. Weighs 14.1 grams. Signed and hallmarked on each earring "Matl" in script, "M. Regis 14-2093 Mexico 925" and "MS-12". MS-12 is the Taxco registration mark for Ricardo Salas. In excellent condition, with no issues whatsoever. | ||
