The overall height of this item is about 14" ( 35.6 cm ). San Isidro or San Ysidro or Saint Isidore the Laborer is also known as Saint Isidore the Farmer, c 1070 - 1130. He was a Spanish day laborer known for his kindness and goodness to the poor and animals. San Isidro is the Catholic Patron Saint of Farmers and of Madrid. San Isidro used to go to mass every morning before going to work. His co-workers complained to their master that he was always late for work. His master found that in fact San Isidro was praying but an angel was doing the work for him. The master also saw that 2 angels were working on each side of him, so San Isidro was doing the work of 3 laborers. San Isidro was beatified in Rome in 1619 by Pope Paul V. Three years later, San Isidro was canonized by Pope Gregory XV (1622). The house of his master in Madrid is now a museum and shows the exhibits of San Isidro's life.
