This is a very rare [one of 2 known] ice cream set with hand painted scenes of imaginary polar exploration.Created around 1870 the scenes are derived from illustrations in Jules Verne novels by Edward Riou. The unmarked dishes are believed to have been made in France and then decorated in this country. The other set like this was featured in a article about Arctic Imagery in the February 2007 issue of the magazine Antiques on page 78. That set has 7 pieces ours has 10.Size is Platter 15 1/4 by 7...

This is a scarce large 31 by 23 inch map of what was called the great west in 1848 printed by Ensign and Thayer in New York and it is from around 1848.Condition is quite good for a map printed on a thin paper stock. There is a piece of paper missing in the border of Michigan and there is some wrinkling from being rolled up at one time. There is a small water stain below the border on the bottom right that would not show if this was matted. A rare map that I guarantee to be of the period.

This is a nice Pre 1860 French bronze of a young man harvesting wheat. He most likely was a clock statue. He is in nice original condition and was cast in two sections. There is a small hole at the base of the wheat bundle which may have held another part on the statue but it does not seem like it would have needed anything else in the composition. This is 9 1/2 tall by 10 inches wide.

This is a wonderful large 16 by 14 inch chromo ad. for Dixons Carburet of Iron Stove Polish. It was published in 1858 by Sarony Major & Knapp a famous large New York city Lithography firm. I believe this was a proof print as it came out of a large scrap book we bought years ago that was all prints from this firm. It seemed to be a job book with things they had been doing. This is early for a nice color chromo print in a large size like this and the subject matter of the African American Slave Na...

This is a bronze statue of the Farnese Bull. The original was a 2nd century Bc. bronze that represents the myth of Dirce. A marble copy was done in Rome around 300 Ad. and was discovered in 1545.It was restored and put in the Farnese Palace. Reductions in bronze have been made since the 1600,s but were always pricey. This bronze is 17 1/2 inches tall and 14 and 1/2inches on both sides. This is a 19th century or older copy of this statue.I think this may be an older statue as it has never had a dar...
