| This is a rare original set of 4 large 23 by 26 inches engravings by Etienne[Stepanus]Baudet done in Rome in 1672.Baudet was known for his engravings of master artists of the day and was a member of the Royal Academy. This set is listed on Wikipedia as one of his major works.I could find no examples for sale at present. Christie's sold one plate in 1996 for $1300.00 and it had damages.Plate 1 is in very nice condition. Plate 2 has some water marks in the bottom center that hardly show on the front. plate 3 is in very nice condition. Plate 4 has some small tears at the bottom center and has a slight fold up the center of the plate.All are trimmed to the border design as is typical of prints of this period.All in all for their size and age they are in remarkable condition.Their is a large watermark in the paper of a head blowing a large horn.Cupid arrow fountain temple | ||
