| This is a wonderful period 1860's or earlier bronze sculpture by William Beattie a englishman who exhibited at the royal academy in 1864.He was born in 1810 died 1870.I did find some listing for parian sculptures that he did. He is listed in the major art books but they do not have very much info on him.This statue is 15 inches tall,and the stone base is 5 1/2 across.It was cast by J. Toy & Son Birmingham England.In wonderfull original condition with no scratchs or dings. The patina is more even than my shot of the face shows. I think it could use a cleaning but we not going to do any thing to it.A great romantic period bronze with lots of detail! | ||
