| This is a interesting and unusual oil painting of a WW1 burial procession. There is a bombed out town in the back round and a rifle on the ground which would seem to indicate a recent battle. It is signed on the left Richard Assmann ??? Zeichme?. He is a listed Austrian painter 1887-1965 who studied in the Czech Republic and the Academy of Munich. He is known for murals and book illustrations. This also has what looks like a signature on the lower right that I can not make out.The painting is 18 1/2 by 27 and has its original European gold frame. It is on its original labeled stretcher and is in generally good condition with a couple of small paint chips in the sky and 2 small old touch ups in the green areas on the right side. A well done painting and a unusual subject. | ||
