Farnese Bull Bronze Sculpture Classical Antique
This is a bronze statue of the Farnese Bull. The original was a 2nd century Bc. bronze that represents the myth of Dirce. A marble copy was done in Rome around 300 Ad. and was discovered in 1545.It was restored and put in the Farnese Palace. Reductions in bronze have been made since the 1600,s but were always pricey. This bronze is 17 1/2 inches tall and 14 and 1/2inches on both sides. This is a 19th century or older copy of this statue.I think this may be an older statue as it has never had a dark patina put on it and it is not signed by a Napoli foundry as most 19th century copies are. This came out of a New York estate of a Art professor who had inherited old master paintings, bronzes and other neat older things. This classical statue is in very nice condition with no scratches or physical damage.I can arrange deliver in Midwest and east coast on our truck. Other areas will require crating as it weighs around 50 lbs.
