An Early 19th century French Gilt Bronze Mantel Clock

H 19 in. x W 15 in. x D 5.5 in.

Circa 1805 Empire Mantel clock, possibly by Savart. The figures of Cupid and Psyche sitting over the circular enamel dial with the base decorated with griffin and acanthus supports, the works striking on the half hour, flanked by two free-standing stools, one with cupids bow and arrows resting on it, the other with an ewer (now detached, in Psyche's arm), above a central freize of dancing putti, the base with rounded ends with anthemeon sprays, the dial signed Faizan a Paris.

Condition Notes: Excellent condition, slight crazing on dial, and ewer is detached (can easily be repaired).

Comparanda: See Christie's Sale #1082, Lot # 393 for a near-identical model.
