Sam Mahl (1913-1992) joined "The Photo League" in 1947 and was a member of the league until its demise in 1951. This original, 1947 silver gelatin print of "Now" has a unique sepia tone quality; Mahl's hand written notes in pencil can be seen in the upper right corner of mount as to developing time and how the coloration was achieved. The image itself measures 10 7/16" x 9.75".

The somber elegance of the ancient Maya site of Copan, in Honduras, is definitively captured in this 1988 image by Mario Algaze. It shows structure 10L-22 as restored in 1935-1942 by the Carnegie Institution under the guidance of Field Director Gustav Stromsvik.

A Chimbu Province man named "Yame" is wearing a circular forehead ornament made from the base of a conus shell. Strands of nassarius shells hang down on either side of his red painted nose. The red and black feathers of a Pesquet's Parrot and the green feathers of a lorikeet are positioned in a whisker-like manner. Part of the "Man as Art" series taken in highland Papua New Guinea between the years of 1967-1980.
