An Ngombe or Ngata executioner's blade (doko)
Eccentric form supposedly used to execute criminals and captive enemies. A fine, truly heavy, sharp example which would do the trick~ Blade is in fine, well-preserved condition. wooden sword handle has suffered some insect damage in the distant past leaving one side of the grip (second knob)with loss forming a cavity. European brass tacks have been inserted into the wooden handle to add prestige, power, and effectiveness. D.R.Congo, 19th century, 29"L. Provenance: ex-Heinrich Collection, Stuttgart, Germany ca. 1920's, private collection of Bernd Ratz, Maulbronn, Germany, 1960's-present.
