A fine Fijian throwing club (I ula drisi)
Classic example carved from shrub root with two sets of radiating lobes on the head. The straight handle is further decorated with incised zig-zag design (tavatava) and has been pierced to accept a carrying cord. 19th century. Measures 16.50" in length. Very fine condition with lustrous, deep, aged patina. Provenance: T.Wilson, Cape Canaveral, FL, since the 1970's.
