Standing with both arms upraised in the manner of a 'dangerous' Bateba, this extraordinary example shows a female with second face in a janus position. The facial style is quite like Bateba Yadawara (sad Bateba), and the surface has remains of sacrificial encrustation overall. 9.75"H, in very fine condition with a small, old chip to the bowl-like form atop the head. From Burkina Faso, West Africa, early 20th century. Old private collection, Florida.
