|MID-20TH.Century Oil on Board of a North Shore Scene of Gloucester, Massachusetts. This is one of three North Shore Paintings that we are listing on our web site. All three of these paintings were purchased out of a Philadelphia Estate. All three of these paintings were painted by Captain Bayard Fish Foulke. This painting measures 12' x 8 3/4". It is a Oil on panel with total frame measuring 14 1/2" X 11 1/2". A Very Well Known Painter of Famous Clipper Ships who had a life time long fascination with the Sea. Born in Oyster Bay, Long Island on February 28, 1880. He was one of three sons of three sons of Theodore and Ida Foulke. He was a Sea Captain who sailed the High Seas for over 50 years. I first became knowledgeable about him a year ago when I bought my first Foulke Painting. It had the signatures of all the mates of that sailing ship. That one like this one and two others that I am listing on my web site are of Sailing Ships. All three, I believe were probably done in Gloucester, Massachusetts as they resemble art work style of Boats in Gloucester. This painting is in Very Good Condition with absolutely no problems. The buyer of this painting and the other two that I am selling, I will guarantee to be very happy with their purchase.|
