Circa 1840-1860 Chinese Export Rare Marmite. These were made Rarely but were made for holding broth. They are straight side pitchers with lids and are extremely rare. We only have seen and owned them in rose medallion and blue canton. This marmite is 3" to the top of the marmite and 4 1/2" to the top of the cover's finial. Once upon a time ago I had a Large one and should never have sold it. This marmite is of average quality and in good condition with no damage or restoration. We are adding images of ones in the Schiffer Chinese Export Porcelain Book Published by Herbert, Peter and Nancy Schiffer. Herbert was the father and the chinese export expert, dealer and collector. He passed away a several years ago. I had bought many things from him when he had a shop. I had a conversation with Peter recently about possibly updating a similar reference book on Chinese Export Porcelain.
