C. 1800 ENGLISH OAK HANGING SHELF/PLATE RACK
Circa 1800 English Oak Hanging Shelf. This Wall shelf with three shelves is made of Antique English Oak and stained in the manner of the 1700's Jacobean. Three shelves that has a strip running left to right to place plates behind so as to display plates such as showed. This early piece of furniture is over 72" in total width from left to right. The total height is 42" and the depth of the shelves are 5 1/2" in the middle section and the left and right sections are 7 1/2" in depth. This original piece was made in England to be a top part of piece of furniture that it rested on. We presently have it attached to a plaster wall and is perfect for the collection of blue and white plates. These Plates are Chinese Export Armorial dinner plates measuring 9 1/2" in diameter. The plates date from Circa 1800. They bear the arms of Hill Dawe of Ditcheat House of Somerset. This Amorial crest is identified by David Howard in his book, Chinese Export Porcelain, on Page 690. These plates are in very good condition. All the Plates have been sold.
