Very large antique Imari oval shaped porcelain charger, with deep under-glaze blue and rust red/orange on a white ground. The outer rim is decorated with two large oval reserves with stylized pheasants, and two reserves featuring dragon designs, between four alternating sections of deep blue and rust red checkerboard designs. The outer rim also features also stylized cranes within circular borders. The deep well of the charger has two alternating reserves repeated four times around the dividing edge. The charger well includes three unique reserves amidst deep under-glaze blue leaves and rust-red flowers and leaves. The celadon colored back of the charger is also decorated with four reserves of under-glaze lighter blue flowers, and blue rings around the foot of the charger. There is one pin mark in the center of the bottom, along with a blue maker mark on the bottom. The charger measures 19.5” W x 16.5” D x 2.1-/8” H, and weighs 5.10 lbs. The condition is excellent. Age is from early 1900’s, Meiji Period.
